Chair Job Description

The Chair shall:

  1. Educate Club members about trends past and current in landscape and garden design.
  2. Plan a program tour or workshop each year that furthers the understanding of garden history and design in coordination with the Program Chair.
  3. Continue to add to the GCA collection at the Archives of American Gardens at the Smithsonian Institution by researching, documenting and photographing noteworthy local gardens, both private and public.
  4. Arrange with LMGC members to have their gardens available for visiting GCA members.
  5. Promote the GCA Visiting Gardens Program within the LMGC by forwarding GCA-sponsored trip information to the LMGC members.
  6. As requested by LMGC members, make available GCA lists of gardens that may be visited elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
  7. Manage the LMGC “pop up” garden program. Keep list of members willing to open their gardens up to LMGC membership at a date and time of their choice and assist garden hosts by announcing their event to the membership.

The Assistant shall:

  1. Actively engage as a partner of the Chair, assisting with researching, documenting and photography of any member garden that is a candidate for submission to the Smithsonian Archives.
