During the spring 0f 2020 The Lake Minnetonka Garden Club\u2019s Partners for Plants project was in jeopardy — with the corona virus peaking, unrest in the City of Minneapolis and a \u201cStay-Safe-at-Home\u201d order by the Governor, who was going to pull this noxious plant? \u00a0But, garlic mustard, beware!\u00a0 As we all were fl![\"\"](\"https:\/\/lakeminnetonkagardenclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/IMG_0965-225x300.jpg\")
attening the curve of the spread of COVID-19, we weren\u2019t going to allow the spread of this invasive plant!\u00a0 Conservation Chair Bobbie Dressen and Horticulture Chair Betsy Massie initiated, \u201cThe Great Garlic Mustard Pull\u201d for the month of May. What an effort!\u00a0 More than 30 club members organized neighborhood social distancing \u201cpulls,\u201d taught children home from school about invasive plants, posted the project on Facebook community pages, and collected more than 200 yard-bags of garlic mustard!\u00a0 Several members were able to get to Wolsfeld Woods too, so the club\u2019s P4P project continues with renewed interest in tackling this invasive weed throughout our community . . . from public trails and parks, to golf courses and backyards.<\/p>\n
LMGC members Kathy Gillum and Lisa Melamed organized the annual garlic mustard pull in Minnetonka Beach and filled up about 25 bags in two mornings!\u00a0 The neighborhood now has a lovely woodland trail without the weeds, giving ground room for Jack in the Pulpits and Blood Roots.\u00a0 Everyone enjoyed the success!<\/p>\n
