Blooming Exposures – A Visual Conversation – June 26, 2023
At the 2023 GCA Photography Conference, a group of women photographers calling themselves the Imogenes (a nod to photographer Imogen Cunningham), introduced a collaboration they refer to visual conversations as a way to share photos, give feedback, and encourage each other’s creative growth. Each conversation was initiated by one photographer sending an image to a second photographer, who responded to it by creating a new image that was sent on to the next person until each member had a chance to participate. The result of their efforts culminated in an exhibit.
Inspired by the Imogenes’ project, the Lake Minnetonka Garden Club piloted an adapted version calling it Visual Conversations. In the adaptation, one image (the first photo) was sent to interested members who then created their own photos as a response. Encouraged by the creativity and collaboration, the club will continue these visual conversations. This slideshow is the product of their efforts. Enjoy!

Len Busch Roses – March, 2020
On a cold and windy morning, a day prior to the Minnesota stay-at-home order going into effect, members of the LMGC stayed warm while enjoying a walk through the lovely greenhouses of Len Busch Roses. Surrounded by beautiful varieties of fresh growing flowers and blooming plants, members were treated to a private tour. We found the mechanized operation fascinating as we witnessed tulips being harvested and packaged for delivery. We learned about the reuse of water for the irrigation systems. The entire operation was quite impressive. Finally, we welcomed spring by creating our own bountiful floral arrangements with techniques and ideas from their in-house designer, Sandy Shroeck. The event was organized by Floral Design Chair, Kathy Gillum. This hands-on experience in a beautiful setting was a perfect Saturday morning and appreciated by all!
