Chair Job Description
The Chair shall:
- Educate Club members about trends past and current in landscape and garden design.
- Plan a program tour or workshop each year that furthers the understanding of garden history and design in coordination with the Program Chair.
- Continue to add to the GCA collection at the Archives of American Gardens at the Smithsonian Institution by researching, documenting and photographing noteworthy local gardens, both private and public.
- Arrange with LMGC members to have their gardens available for visiting GCA members.
- Promote the GCA Visiting Gardens Program within the LMGC by forwarding GCA-sponsored trip information to the LMGC members.
- As requested by LMGC members, make available GCA lists of gardens that may be visited elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
- Manage the LMGC “pop up” garden program. Keep list of members willing to open their gardens up to LMGC membership at a date and time of their choice and assist garden hosts by announcing their event to the membership.
The Assistant shall:
- Actively engage as a partner of the Chair, assisting with researching, documenting and photography of any member garden that is a candidate for submission to the Smithsonian Archives.
