Next Blooming Exposures Meeting - Monday October 8th , 2018

2:30 – 4 p.m. @ Wayzata Library

This will be an opportunity for our members to share pictures they are considering to print for our LMGC Photography Showcase.

ARE YOU…..
– Having trouble deciding which of your pictures to use?
– Wanting help with editing your photos?
– Having issues getting your pictures off your phone?
– Wanting help mounting your printed photo?

Come to this meeting for guidance from our amazing Blooming Exposures members….and maybe you will decide to join your talented gardening friends as we continue to learn about taking better photos.

Photography Description

The Photography Committee is a group of members and associates interested in forwarding their love and skill in the visual art of photography.  We foster interest in photography through monthly meetings that engage membership in new learning and sharing our works with each other. We encourage and support members submitting their personal photos in our local flower shows as well as Garden Club of America’s photography competitions. All members are welcome to attend meetings…to come an learn and further their understanding of good photography. Members of the committee are also asked to take and submit photographs at various club activities to be used on the website and in various published materials for the group.

Photography Chair Job Description

The Chair shall:

  1. Be responsible for taking photographs of club events and projects for use in club publications and on the website.
  2. Foster and maintain interest in photography among the membership.
  3. Work closely with Zone Photography Rep for ideas and suggestions for club activities and study groups.
  4. Organize or continue to run a photography study group if desired. Submit time and location of study group meetings for publication in eight LMGC Program announcements.
  5. Assist in the planning of the photography division in club flower shows.
  6. If possible stage one annual informal “in club” photography show.
  7. Create group activities that provide photography support to the Garden History and Design & Visiting Gardens Committee for documentation of gardens that will be submitted to the Smithsonian AAG Collection.
  8. Meet at the beginning of each year by June 30 to coordinate with Communications and Historian Committees on what events and meetings will be photographed and who will be responsible for photographing a certain number of events. The Photography Chair will be responsible for posting this information on the photography committee webpage.

Photography Goals for 2017-18

  • Encourage​ each member to enter 1 GCA photography competition by providing entry information to members as soon as it becomes available ​
  • Provide a 2-hour session for general membership on “How to take better photos using​your mobile phone/devise “
  • Provide suggested photography assignments prior to each meeting. They need not be mandatory, but will give guidance for those who need/want it.
