The Chair shall:

1. 1. Work with the Zone XI GCA Scholarship Chair to become knowledgeable about, act on, communicate to the Club, and respond back to the GCA on scholarship issues.
2. Work with educational institutions to promote GCA scholarship opportunities. Call on the horticulture institutions and universities (HIU) in Zone XI to ensure contact information is still accurate. Note: Updates need to be sent to GCA headquarters by August 15 of each year.
3. Follow recommended timeline for selecting Club scholarship recipient (s):

September: Mail letters
October: Place phone calls
November (midmonth, not on a Monday): deadline
Early December: accept an applicant

4. Ask Club Scholarship recipient(s) to make a 10-minute presentation about their work at the June Club Annual Meeting.
5. Coordinate with Program Chair to schedule a GCA scholarship recipient as a speaker when appropriate.
6. Continue to explore creative ways to increase monies for the LMGC Scholarship Fund, working with the Club’s Grants and Contributions Committee.
